You can clearly recognize when someone is talking about the future in Bulgarian by the word “ще“. In some cases, you just need to add “ще” before a verb to turn a sentence from present to future. Here are some examples:
Аз съм тук. (I am here.)
Аз ще съм тук. (I will be here.)
Те имат пари. (They have money.)
Те ще имат пари. (They will have money.)
With other verbs, though, you need to consider the verb aspect (process vs result-focused) and add “ще” to another verb form. See the examples below:
Отивам на летището. (I’m going to the airport.)
Ще отида на летището утре. (I’ll go to the airport tomorrow.)
To make a sentence negative (I will → I will not), we add “няма да” before the verb.
