билетът / билета

“Билет” means “ticket“. To say “the ticket“, we choose between two forms (full or short) based on whether it’s the subject or object in the sentence. When the noun performs the action (subject), we use the full form (-ът/-ят). When it receives the action (object), we use the short form (-а/-я).

See the examples below:

Билетът струва 10 евро. (‘The ticket costs 10 euro’ – The ticket is the subject, so we use билетът.)
Той взима билета и тръгва. (‘He takes the ticket’ – He is the subject, and the ticket is the object, so we use билета.)
